My client had lived in Manhattan for many years prior to finding herself here in the Pioneer Valley.  She had one of the most interesting art collections of any of my client's to date.  After four years of white walls, she called me in to help her find colors that would feel more sophisticated and remind her of her life in New York.  Together, we chose some understated yet dramatic colors, rearranged her art and edited her collections.  I also rearranged some of the smaller furniture in an effort to bring the artworks into focus.  Her daughter says the home now has a new sense of calm.
Benjamin Moore's Embassy Green was selected for the living room.  The goal was to use a color that would work gracefully with the existing upholstery until my client could have her classic furniture re-covered.  The walls look so great with the fabrics, reupholstering no longer feels urgent.

Again, Embassy Green brings elegance and calm to the dining room. We brought a favorite painting, reminiscent of the New York skyline, down from the stairway landing.  Gilt and crystal sconces were given their due.   A baker's rack has been moved to the lower-level family room where it serves as a useful storage location for items used for entertaining.

We moved a tall desk, shown on the left, to the entry foyer and placed this colorful collage on the far wall so that it draws the viewer down the hallway into the main living space.  It's hung a little high to clear the light switch but sets the tone for the gallery-like experience waiting for visitors.

On the kitchen wall to the right, trivets and decorative plates were replaced by a small and very special print, which can now be enjoyed at close range when sitting at the counter.
A large multi-media painting was moved from the dining room to over the piano where it serves as a focal point.
